Institute of Media and Journalism (IMeG)
The Institute of Media and Journalism (IMeG) was created within the Faculty of Communication, Culture and Society in 2004 and contributes to teaching activities at the Bachelor's level, particularly by managing the specialisation area in 'Communication and Media'; at the Master's level, by organising the Master in Media Management; and at the doctoral level, with a vibrant doctoral cohort drawn from different nationalities.
The IMeG carries out research activities, particularly in the following areas:
- Journalism, algorithms (AI) and big data;
- The development of media technologies in an international context;
- Digital media consumption and young people;
- Social media management in its economic and cultural context;
- The development of fandom and media;
- Climate change communications with special relevance to young people;
- Cultural and creative industries, including music.
The Institute of Media and Journalism is directed by Prof. Matthew Hibberd.

- the European Journalism Observatory (EJO) engages in ongoing research on the dynamics of the publishing and journalistic worlds
